It is usual in a Filipino Family migrating to other countries for a better future.
In our family, on the father side, most of my relatives are now living in USA and Australia. They do visit us here in the Philippines from time to time. So when they do, we sit down and plan our next adventure!
This time, my gorgeous cousin, Hazel from Australia will be spending time with us for like 2 days. First on our list is Sandbox.
What’s interesting about Sandbox?
SandBox at Alviera is a unique getaway for families that redefines outdoor adventure and fun. It features a full stretch of exciting attractions that will surely make everyone appreciate the outdoors. Everyone in the family has something to do here from playground for the toddlers to Mini Golf for the grandparents! With a mountain range along the horizon and the surrounding wide plains, SandBox is definitely the place for family outdoor fun! Read More

We live in Angeles City Pampanga, 2 hours away from Manila. From Angeles City, we hit the road at around 9:00am. It took us 30 minutes (no traffic) drive to Sandbox. Honestly, we have no idea how to get there,so asking our beloved townspeople is definitely a big help.
Parking is Free.
At the Entrance, you can start selecting your extreme challenge from their list of attractions and packages. It is up to you if you are fearless and extreme at heart to try all the attractions, choose 1 package to save costs. But if you have a huge fear of heights and a cry baby like your blogger right now, I recommend you choose 2-3 attractions. (See the full list of attractions below) I actually chose the custom picks, I tried the Aerial walk (for me this is the most extreme one! You will definitely reach your limits!) , Rappeling (I thought it was easy but I was wrong) and Wall climbing (I thought it was easy because I already tried it before but again I was wrong).
Sign the waiver to proceed. Keep your tickets because those are required on each attraction.
My tip: Each challenge requires your full strength! After each challenge, you will surely lose a lot of your energy. It is recommended to take 15-25 minutes break after each challenge for you to be ready on your next.
At the Aerial Walk they do not allow cellphones. Staff are taking photos of you so you can check them later and if you like to get a copy of your photos they give it for 250.00 (approximately $5USD) They have a photo booth on each attraction sites so it’s up to you if you want a printed copy of your extremely wacky photo.
It is imperative that you listen carefully to the staff because they will tell you how to use the self-service safety gear. The staff won’t be by your side, it is all up to you once you started. You need to ensure that you lock the harness before you proceed on each rope stage.
May 3, 2014– One sweet Saturday morning, an unforgettable journey going to an unexpected paradise in the heart of Zambales, Philippines.
From Angeles City Pampanga, we traveled less than two hours (thanks to the brilliant minds who made SCTEX happen though!).
Me, my boyfriend with our dear friends were finally heading to a fascinating trip. Because of the beauty we discovered in that place, I voluntarily disobeyed the advise of my doctor! Right, let me spill it out, I have an ear infection I got from a contaminated/polluted/dirty water in a pool (that was in a big island resort in Bulacan). That experience was really horrifying! Can’t sleep because of too much pain! That was traumatic to the point that I don’t want to swim again! But not this time.. A paradise made me conquer that fear.. Read on..
Ocean View Hotel and Beach Resort, Zambales, Philippines
Affordable rooms. Accommodating staff. Easy to book online.
The whole story was, we were suppose to check in other beach resort but because it was a peak season something went wrong. The beach resort suggested we can check in Ocean View Beach Resort since it was their sister company.
We said yes because we don’t have other choice! Almost all beach resorts are fully booked! And we can’t wait any longer! We need to see the beach! You know what I mean right?
Piece of advice: Book 2 months before, specially if you’re planning on a peak season.
The driver of our sailboat offered this squid 1 kg. for only PHP150.00 (approximately $4) and he offered to grill this for free! How cool was that! (but because we’re so busy with our thing, we failed to follow-up, so Zel Manalang did the job. Many thanks kuya Zel!)
I bought 2 kg. as a surprise treat (pasalubong) for family!
Witnessed a beautiful and very calm sunset while dancing with the waves. That was our unforgettable kayak experience.
The instruction was, do not stay too close with people near the shore so we really have to row the kayak really far, about 20 to 40 feet.
It was my first time to try kayak. At first (the whole time actually) I was freaking out! And shaking!
Poor us. Wasn’t able to take at least 1 photo of our kayak adventure! Will surely have one very soon 😉
The cost for Kayak rental with life vest was worth less than PHP3oo.00 (approximately $7 only) for an hour.
Piece of advice: Please wear the right kayak/swimming shoes (or any shoes that fits your foot that surely won’t slip) Never leave your sandals/shoes on the kayak booth, someone might fall in love with it and won’t give it back 😉 Based from real experience. lol.
Let the photos guide you on this fascinating island hopping..
I suggest you start Island hopping before 7am. We arrive at Parola Island, around 7:20am and it was perfect! Very few people on the island. It was is indeed a paradise because of its natural crystal clear water. Come early because if its crowded, ummm.. that’s a different story. You won’t quite enjoy the beautiful island because it’s small.
